Christopher Esber’s elevated take on resort dressing was on full display last night, as guests watched on in the Cement Fondu gallery in Sydney’s Darlinghurst. On the menu? Slouchy suiting with serrated cut-outs, rugged-up cocoon coats and day dressed with exaggerated pocket detailing. And the introduction of minimal sandals, likely to be seen everywhere come Australian summer. The highlight was the closing looks - refined eveningwear embellished with crystal encrusted ropes. 📸 Backstage by @ellajanee for @bazaaraustralia #MBFWA

This #realbride knew a traditional #veil wasn’t her style, so she opted for a black velvet hair bow instead. “I wanted something not overly bridal,” she explained. To see more from this wintry, moody #wedding in #Tasmania, hit the link in bio. 📸: @jennafaheywhite

“It’s important for us that we’re not categorised as a lifestyle brand, but as a fashion brand,” says @bassike co-founder Deborah Sams. “This runway show was an opportunity for us to show how we’ve evolved.” The brand’s Resort ‘20 collection was staged tonight in the super-chic Apollo restaurant in Potts Point, and featured the brand’s first real foray into colour and print. “I felt really strongly about introducing colour. It’s something we’ve shied away from in the past, but it felt right for Resort.” #MBFWA 📸: @ellajanee

“We thought it was time for the brand to have a time and space to show more of our world,” is how sisters @ilona_hamer and @petaheinsen explain their decision to stage a runway show for their brand, @matteau, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. A pivot away from swimwear, the collection featured slinky jersey dresses, printed silk pieces and the introduction of knits - complete with a runway appearance by the brand’s muse #PhoebeTonkin. “We wanted to explore more of the Matteau woman’s wardrobe when she travels. Things to wear to the beach, but also to dinner, or to a cocktail party or wedding. For us, it’s not about being overtly trend-driven, we want to do our own thing and make simple, beautiful piece that make a woman’s life easier.” 📸: @ellajanee #mbfwa

Tonight @_aje_ opened Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in style, staging an Australian-infused collection against a magnificent backdrop in Sydney’s The Rocks. ✨ The clothes? Classic brand shapes like voluminous sleeves and sharp two-pieces, mixed with dramatic ruffled silk gowns and utilitarian shirting - all emblazoned with classic Australiana, wattle motifs and kitsch-chic tourism signs. Photographer @ellajanee captured the collection backstage, and will be for the rest of Fashion Week. 💫 #MBFWA #Aje
